Hydraulic Seeding

What is it?

Hydroseed is a processwhereby seed, water, fertilizer, and mulch either from reprocessed wood or recycled paper are mixed together and applied over the ground. In one application, the ground is seeded, fertilized, and mulched. The green mat that covers your lawn is from virgin wood fiber or recycled paper that functions to retain water, control erosion, and protect the seed.

As your lawn grows and becomes established, the mulch fibers will gradually decompose and add nourishment tot he soil. Because mulch fibers are processed mulch, foreign seeds and other waste material are not introduced into your new lawn.

Watering

Watering is most effective if done by frequent, light sprinklings during the morning, mid day, and mid afternoon. Keep the lawn moist at all times. Don’t let the lawn dry out, if the germinating seedlings dry out, they will die. Also remember not to water the lawn in the evening, you do not want the lawn to be moist during the night as it will grow a fungus without the sun to dry it out.

Mowing your Lawn

A new lawn should be mowed as soon as the grass blades are 1″ to 1.5″ high. This short mowing should continue  for about 3 to 4 weeks, mowing twice a week. This will allow slower germinating seed plenty of sunlight to germinated.
